To use it as a dungeon item, it does REQUIRE catacombs 25. UPDATE: Midas Staff even if it isn't paid 100m for the full bonus, is better than yeti sword and spirit sceptre. Keep in mind, the knockback doesn't affect minibosses such as SA'S (Shadow Assassin), LA'S (Lost Adventurer), FA'S (Frozen Adventurer) You can also try using the AOTD if you don't have enough for frozen scythe. Otherwise follow the budgets listed in this thread. If you got at least 7m-10m lying around, you can get this weapon and skip bonzo staff/dreadlord sword. The only good mage weapon that doesn't have floor completion or catacombs completion is the frozen scythe. Starting Weapon without floor completions or catacombs requirements Use fragments (they were introduced to f6) At the moment, only bonzo fragments upgrade the bonzo staff which gives a slight boost to the overall stats on the staff. Inflatable Jerry stuns and scare off any mobs besides minibosses. The voodoo doll slows down mobs and is extremely effective for minibosses such as the AA's, LA'S, SA'S and watcher mobs) The ornate zombie sword is for healing in case if you ever get low or if there isn't a healer around. Superboom tnt for finding secrets and blowing up crypts, and spirit leaps to tp to whoever needs assistance with either a puzzle or mob. This sword is helpful when doing speed runs or just overall faster completion of the dungeon floors. Rogue sword if you're not using spirit boots. There isn't any mage specific gear/items from F5. Don't sell the wise set because outside of dungeons, zombie soldier or adaptive isn't as good as wise outside of dungeons. When purchasing any weapon that does magic dmg such as bonzo, scythe or sceptre, make sure they have ultimate wise at least 4, but recommended 5 so they don't drain your mana as quickly. Substitute the boots for spirit boots (the boots require floor 4 completion) Substitute the head piece for bonzo/spirit mask, or shadow goggles. Never use any of the dungeon gear fully, always use 3/4 of the gear. Don't worry, your thunderstorm will reset on boss room. Similar tip above, but instead use your mage ability thunderstorm to do even more dmg to the watcher mobs. If you wanna cheese watcher rooms (besides f3-f5), just aote to a high place and start spamming your mage weapons. Rejuvenate is optional and not needed, but if you want to increase your natural regeneration in dungeons than go for it. However, the annoying part may be it spams your chat due to the fact that minibosses are immune to knockback. Use AOTD if you want a slightly downgraded version to pigman sword, but the great thing about AOTD is that it has no cooldown. Use AOTE or Grappling Hook to get out of sticky situations. The sheep pet item should always be textbook. ![]() don't use wise armor unless it's converted to dungeon gear or you're just starting dungeons on entrance. If you're on a budget, and don't mind waiting for your setup bid on items because they can go for cheaper than the BIN price. Upgrade the dungeon gear with essence as starring a dungeon item/gear increases it's stats by a certain %. Some have higher catacombs level requirements than others though. Unless if you convert it to a dungeon gear. Always try to use dungeon gear as they will have better stats in dungeons, than those that aren't dungeon gear. Mages shouldn't be going for melee damage, instead magic damage, unless if they're going for a berserker mage build. You're basically a glass cannon, especially on earlier budgets. Your job is to stay far back to do magic damage to mobs. Remember, you're a mage not a tank or a berserker. Always make sure to scout each room, before rushing in to them. When using Dreadlord Sword, wither skulls delete items on ground inside and outside of dungeons as well. All these % vary on what level is the sheep pet at. The legendary sheep pet has a 3rd ability while in dungeons it increases your mana. However, the best part about the sheep pet in dungeons is the 3rd ability. It's 2nd ability is good as well giving a shield after not taking damage for 10 seconds. It's 1st ability reduces the mana cost of by a certain %. Enderdragon pet would be the other option to go for, but it's extremely expensive. ![]() Sheep pet is one of the best pets for mages in dungeons or just in general. ![]() The third ability is situational as it only works if in or near water. It's second ability is useless in dungeons as it just boosts enchanting XP. Lazerbeam is great if you're trying to go for a beam setup, but that's about it. The guardian's abilities aren't that great for dungeons. There is also another alternative which is Guardian pet but it's easily outclassed by sheep. The most viable pet for mages would be the sheep pet.
